Gecko – one of the most common inhabitants of the wasteland.

Due to the effects of radiation, geckos have grown to very large sizes and learned to walk on their hind legs. One variant, the Fire Gecko, has even learned to breathe fire, similar to mythical dragons.

Many hunters and trappers, particularly in Klamath, earn their living by hunting geckos and selling their hides, with Golden Gecko hides being especially valuable.

They pose a minor threat.

Silver Gecko

This gecko has a silvery color. It is the weakest of the gecko species and poses little threat, even to beginners. However, they can be dangerous in large numbers, especially when grouped with Golden Geckos.

After killing one, if you have the Skinning perk, you can harvest a Silver Gecko Hide or, if you're lucky (8% chance), a Tough Silver Gecko Hide.

Golden Gecko

Golden Geckos have a swampy-golden hue. They are stronger than Silver Geckos and present a greater danger. In large numbers, they can pose a threat even to experienced characters. However, taking advantage of the fact that all geckos are relatively slow, you can simply outrun them to avoid injury.

After killing one, if you have the Skinning perk, you can harvest a Golden Gecko Hide or, if you're lucky (8% chance), a Tough Golden Gecko Hide.

Fire Gecko

Fire Geckos have an oily black color. They are the strongest and most dangerous of the gecko species. Their distinguishing feature is their ability to attack with fire, which makes them a significant threat, even to well-equipped and experienced players.

After killing one, if you have the level 2 Skinning perk, you can harvest a Fire Gecko Hide or, if you're lucky (8% chance), a Tough Fire Gecko Hide.

Interesting and Bugged Behavior

Due to a scripting oversight in Fallout 2, geckos are able to pick up and effectively use all types of knuckle weapons in combat, and they can even reload Power Fists.
